Nego Fugido is an important cultural manifestation in the state of Bahia, Brazil.

Until it’s time to start staging this popular opera, in the Recôncavo Baiano. And while the kids wait for their time to shine, the adults also get ready for the show… The representation of Nego Fugido is performed mostly by men from the fishing and quilombolo community of the Acupe district, the performances always take place on Sundays in July, the month that represents the struggle for independence in Bahia. The performances of Nego Fugido in the streets of Acupe build a narrative throughout the month about the story told.
